Flight Take Off And Landing Challenge
We had just moved back to the city from our rural home.
Our house was located beside of one of the main throughways in the city.
Back then, windows opened from the bottom to cover the top window, and there was about a two foot or three foot opening just begging us to try it out. "Get fresh air! Challenge one another! Enjoy the freedom of flight!"
Two of my younger brothers, and myself, decided it was a good idea to hold a competition.
Which of us could jump from the bedroom window and land farthest from the house in our front yard.
It would be like jumping from the hayloft; only the city version.
Look mom! I'm going to win!
After our first jump, our mother frantically would tell us, "You kids need to stop! One of you will get seriously hurt."
However, the competition could not be left unfinished. So we had a few more launches (which I am sure grayed our mother's hair prematurely).
We never even sprained anything, only had a few scratches from landing.
Now, I wonder if drivers passing by may have had collisions, or heart stopping moments seeing three young kids come flying out of the window.
Imagined Driver/Police Exchange
Could you see a person trying to explain to the police officer at the collision.
Confused driver, "But, officer, I swear, kids flying out the second floor window over there."
Officer response: "Have you been drinking?
Walk a straight line. (The sobriety test method before breathalyzer tests.)
Cover Charge?
I wonder if the restaurant across the street charge a cover charge for 'live entertainment' when we carried out our challenges?
